YOUR DAILY LIFE IS YOUR TEMPLE AND YOUR RELIGION.WHEN YOU ENTER INTO IT TAKE WITH YOU YOUR ALL.

THE SOUND OF LAUGHTER IS LIKE THE VAULTED DOME OF A TEMPLE OF HAPPINESS.

“Those in whom the Spirit comes to live are God's new Temple. They are, individually and corporately, places where heaven and earth meet.”

“What are men to rocks and mountains?”

“We are now in the mountains and they are in us, kindling enthusiasm, making every nerve quiver, filling every pore and cell of us.”

“Those who travel to mountain-tops are half in love with themselves, and half in love with oblivion.”

“He who climbs upon the highest mountains laughs at all tragedies, real or imaginary.”

“Any coward can sit at home and criticize a pilot for flying into a mountain in a fog. But I would rather by far die on a mountainside than in bed.”

“He loved mountains, or he had loved the thought of them marching on the edge of stories brought from far away; but now he was borne down by the insupportable weight of Middle-earth. He longed to shut out the immensity in a quiet room by a fire.”

“[In mountaineering, if] we look for private experience rather than public history, even getting to the top becomes an optional narrative rather than the main point, and those who only wander in high places become part of the story.”

“She didn't pick her way over the terrain like she was afraid of slipping on the ice...She glided over it with long confident strides. Her hands were in her vest pockets. Her eyes were Susannah.”

“You've got ice in your veins, but you're smart enough to keep it from freezing your heart.”

“Silence can always be broken by the sound
Of footsteps walking over frozen groundIn winter when the melancholy treesStand abject and let their branches freeze
”

“A chill swept through the air, the sort of graveyard kiss promising bad news to follow.”

Since I remember I’ve always been in love with the mountains. They’ve always been with me, even in my earliest childhood. I know people who fell in love with mountains in their adult life. I had a privilege to be taught that by my father. But – be aware – as Irish say “marry a mountain girl and you marry the whole mountain”. What you can find below is a humble compilation of my favorite mountain quotes. Enjoy!

“If you are faced with a mountain, you have several options. You can climb it and cross to the other side. You can go around it. You can dig under it. You can fly over it. You can blow it up. You can ignore it and pretend it’s not there. You can turn around and go back the way you came. Or you can stay on the mountain and make it your home.”

“Only if you have been in the deepest valley, can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain.”

“The blast that swept him came off New Hampshire snow-fields and ice-hung forests. It seemed to have traversed interminable leagues of frozen silence, filling them with the same cold roar and sharpening its edge against the same bitter black-and-white landscape.

“My heart will never forget what it’s like to fade in and out of time, to never know if one year or a thousand have passed by, to torture yourself with the idea of your soul trapped behind ice for all eternity.
I know what torture there is behind ice.”
